He looked lost?
June 22, 2004
I saw the scene this morning from Fahrenheit 9/11 that shows President Bush getting the news on the morning of the attacks. I then saw Michael Moore's interpretation of that scene, which was recorded very recently. I can't find the exact quote but he basically said that the President looked "scared" and "lost" and that he found that unsettling.
Scared? I wouldn't doubt it. I sure would have been in that situation. Hell, I was scared in my situation. We all were. As for the President looking lost and how unsettling that was... is Moore stupid? So what if he did look lost (which is just an intentionally derogatory, insulting way to say "overwhelmed" in this case)? That was almost 3 frickin' years ago! Why would you base your opinion of his response on some look he had on his face, when you also have years of tangible action to consider as well? Whether or not you agree with the course he took, I think it's safe to say at this point that Bush was not lost, and I don't see how you can be nervous about his ability to respond based on old footage that gives us nothing other than our own subjective interpretation when you're still alive 3 years later to talk about it.
What would happen if we showed Michael Moore footage of Shaquille O'Neal in the moments after he was drafted by Orlando? Would he see a certain nervous look in O'Neal's eyes, become unsettled, and worry about Shaq's chances for success in the NBA? Hey, Moore. Maybe you should dig into Bill Gates' transcripts. I hear he dropped out of school. Based on that, I'm very concerned with his ability to run any type of business.
Bush looked "lost" in some old tape. Run for the hills, morons!
